Our Nouveau Wine (Nuovo) and Brut Rosé XXII

Every harvest brings new opportunities and challenges. 2022 is no different. When we brought this single vineyard Sangiovese in from The Mohr-Fry Vineyard (one of our favorite vineyards), we saw the opportunity within the grape quality to literally make a split second decision and decide to do something fun and exciting for our Club Members! Funny enough these grapes and our sparkling grapes were picked within three days of each other during mid- August! So, the result is something NEW or "Nouveau" which means "NEW wine of the harvest". Traditionally most of this comes from Beaujolais in France, and is released on the third Thursday in November.  But the Italians have made it also on a much smaller scale. Sangiovese makes it an ideal grape for this type of a wine as well as wonderful Rosés and powerful age worthy red wines. I now have made all versions. Thus my first Nouveau type wine in over a couple of decades...

Wine notes: "True to his history and heritage it is made with a grape of Italian origin that's best suited for this unique style of wine. Bright, fresh, crisp and dry with a very youthful and enticing aromatic notes of strawberry and watermelon. The grapes were de-stemmed, not crushed with fermentation taking place inside the berries in tank before being finished in neutral barrels for only a few weeks before bottling. The result is a light style dry red bigger than a Rose. It can even be served and enjoyed at cellar temperature or with a slight chill to it. It’s light bodied and paler in color due to minimal maceration time and a short fermentation period. It is highly drinkable and is lower in alcohol content."

Wine notes: "Debuting our 2nd release of the BRUT ROSE in time for the Holidays, and following our quickly sold out first release, we have this one available earlier at the best time of the year!  This is made from the same vineyard and in the same "Single Stream Fermentation" method that we first developed last year. From vine to bottle, and without the usual secondary fermentation that other sparkling wines and Champagnes go through. The color has an almost electric hue with beautiful effervescence and a tiny bead of bubbles.  Fresh aromatics, complex fruit notes that is a touch drier than the first with a creamier mouthfeel, bright, and refreshing through to the finish. Even better than the original!"
